During development, we lovingly called it “the Banana.”
You may have seen it over the last couple of months in photos and videos with the F4 team, quietly getting plenty of time on the water. After a long development process, a lot of testing and quite a few changes along the way, we’re finally stoked to release the F4 Sylo.
Sylo is a limited-run production SUP downwind board built around one simple idea:
Built around the foil
Downwind foiling has evolved quickly, and as boards get smaller and foils get faster, the relationship between the two becomes increasingly important.
With Sylo, we started with the F4 foil system and worked backwards.
The weight, rocker, outline, deck, bottom shape and aerodynamic profile were developed together to create a board that is light, agile and predictable when it matters most.
The rocker is tuned to provide the right release and angle for takeoff, while remaining efficient once you're flying. The compact outline makes the board easier to move beneath you through touchdowns, corrections and transitions, while the aerodynamic shape helps reduce unnecessary drag. It isn't about adding more features. It is about removing everything that doesn't need to be there.
Light. Agile. Responsive.
At just 5.4 kg, the Sylo is built to feel almost weightless beneath your feet.
Low weight makes pumping more efficient and allows the board to respond immediately to rider input. The compact platform keeps it agile, while the carefully tuned rocker helps you get back onto foil with less effort.
Once you're flying, the board should almost disappear.
That's exactly what we wanted.
Developed with the F4 team
Sylo wasn't created in a design studio and handed to a rider.
It has been developed over a long period with the F4 team — tested, changed, simplified and tested again in real downwind conditions.
The goal throughout was pretty simple: make the board that feels right.
The final result is a purpose-built downwind board that is light, efficient, agile and designed specifically around the F4 foil system.
Something special for Sylo #001
We also wanted to do something meaningful with the very first Sylo.
Sylo #001 will be auctioned, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Hawaii Lifeguard Service.
These are the people who keep us safe while we practice the sports we love and who provide endless inspiration to the watersports community.
We’ll share full details of the auction soon.
For now, we're just happy to finally put the Sylo into the hands of riders.
